I haven’t finished reading this book yet but I felt compelled to writes a review so that somebody who may really need to know the knowledge in this book gets it.I don’t have cfs/me but the past few years have been very tough on my nervous system and I have felt my energy reserves dwindle a lot. I recently turned to yin yoga to help me relax and unwind both my mind and physical body but wanted to know more about the mechanisms of yoga and also fatigue. It’s clear the author has a lot of experience in this field and also life experience to which I can relate. I have confidence in the information contained herein. It will really help you to inquire within and start the healing journey. I recommend this to anyone who has a busy life, anyone who is tired of the modern world, anyone who’s body may feel broken, to read this book and try a gentle form of yoga.

I am thoroughly enjoying this wonderful and beautifully written book. It starts with some gentle science on how the body responses to acute and chronic stress, weaves in some current and valuable studies on the effects of stress, burn out and trauma, discusses the importance of how our own psychological make up can change health outcomes and finishes with gentle yoga and breath work, including photos, suited to support and aid recovery from these health issues. Fiona has a wealth of experience and writes personally and intelligently. This book demonstrates how important it is to work with the holistic health care model and shows how highly skilled and valuable expert yoga teachers are to our society, especially more than ever in 2020 and beyond! This book is a must for any yoga teacher, therapist or student and those suffering from stress, burn out or chronic fatigue.

This is a very helpful book for people like my daughter and me who have ME or long COVID and are very ill, fatigued and exercise intolerant. Everything is done lying or sitting. All movements are very gentle and readers are constantly reminded to listen to their own bodies and not to do anything that feels too much for them. Everything is optional. Most of the practice consists of gentle, slow breathing and visualisation that enables people who are chronically ill and stressed to enter a calm, deeply restful state than can help the body to heal. This book is full of kindness, compassion and understanding of what it is like to live with chronic fatigue. . It is very clearly written in a way that is easy to follow for people who have brain fog and in a large format that is helpful for people with visual symptoms. I fully recommend this book to anyone with ME who may have found yoga too physically demanding for them. This is an approach which teaches us to befriend our bodies and to have compassion on ourselves. The authors teach us that we become adept yogis by doing less rather than more and tha the state of yoga is to have a quiet and calm mind.

I would highly recommend this text, both personally as someone with a mild fatigue issue plus to support my yoga studying with BWY. Having also attended a number of the author’s yoga classes online, I would wholeheartedly say that this book is written with utmost integrity and accuracy. I have learned things and it has made me reflect about how to find a sense of calm both in yoga and in my everyday life.

This is a really wonderful book, packed with incredible resources, and which would be invaluable either for yoga teachers working with people who are suffering from stress, burnout and other fatigue conditions, as well as for individuals. So often people with unexplained fatigue conditions don’t know where or who to turn to for help, and this book is really a bible of knowledge that helps you to both understand your condition and also gives you the information and yoga practices that you need to feel better. Highly recommended.
