Great book for students and teachers alike.
I’ve just started teaching an online Restorative Yoga class through a local yoga studio, and wanted some inspiration for class structure and techniques. This book provides a lot of generally helpful information. It includes some great ideas for class outlines, and is filled with big, beautiful pictures that clearly illustrate poses and props needed. There is a nice treatment on the benefits of holding long poses, the atmosphere that will enhance the restorative experience, asana (pose) examples, pranayama (breathing) techniques, and suggested props for a great class. The book is perfect for students who want to set up their own space and practice at home, and for teachers looking to expand their offering. Plus, the book was printed with very high quality paper and ink, and was very well written.

Best restorative yoga manual I’ve found!
I am so, so impressed with this book and the wealth of information between its covers! There simply is no other book about restorative yoga quite like it (and I’m pretty sure I own them all!). Restorative Yoga for Life is an unbelievably thorough, extremely informative, exceptionally useful manual that can help both experienced yogis and curious newbies access the true benefits of a restorative yoga practice. The book explains how to use props, how to set up restorative poses, and how to sequence them, all so as to best achieve relaxation and healing no matter what personal or physical issues the reader hopes to address. The author is super-knowledgeable and yet so clear in the way she disseminates that breadth of knowledge the reader feels like he or she has a private teacher right there in the room. As a yoga teacher myself, I find I’m referring to the book again and again not just to add a new dimension to my own more active practice, but to enhance my teaching and benefit my students (and my students are loving it!). So as a teacher, as well as a long time yoga practitioner, I highly recommend Restorative Yoga for Life.

Easy to Follow and Concise
I have used this book to plan several restorative yoga classes, and it has been wonderful. Many of the poses I wouldn’t have thought to do on my own. I do wish there was more information on the benefits of each pose, however. This book offers many modifications and is put together in sections of inversions, back bends, forward folds, etc. and also offers sequences for different ailments which is AWESOME.

Wonderful book on restorative yoga poses
I have tried several restorative yoga classes and I felt renewed and relaxed afterwards. I am a yoga teacher and have since decided to make relaxation yoga practices a part of my expertise. I am on the mission to learn more about restorative yoga, yin yoga and yoga nidra. I purchased this book with intention on learning more about the poses and props used in the poses to make relaxation more accessible ot practitioners and more enjoyable at the same time. I loved the colorful pictures of poses and variation of the poses. I also like the fact that book provides sequencing recommendations for classes that can range from 60, 90 to 2 hour sessions. This is definitely book and techniques that can be used in yoga studios (or at home) for as long as there are props available.I am planning to run several workshops using this book as a guide on how to sequence the practice. In the meantime, I am actively searching for restorative yoga mentor that can help me perfect this practice and learn even more. These poses are accessible to yoga practitioners at all levels and all ages. That is the beauty of it. It also provides a feeling of calm and peace which to some extent, we all crave in our daily lives.

Fantastic comprehensive intro to Yoga in general, and Restorative Yoga
What a fantastic comprehensive intro to Yoga in general, and Restorative Yoga.I am a newbie to Yoga, exploring it as I have felt the health benefits of my daily transcendental meditation practice, and I wanted to learn more – ie about Hatha Yoga.I have always been intrigued by the idea of Restorative Yoga, as it completely flips the mainstream image of active, sweaty Yoga (eg Bikram Yoga, Aero Yoga) on its head, and emphasises DEEP RELAXATION.NO PAIN = GAIN.It struck a chord with me, how we should be relieving tension & stress with our fast-paced lives, NOT adding to that tension & stress. Hence Restorative Yoga.I loved learning about- the basic tenets of Yoga,- the history of Yoga, and of Iyengar (who inspired/created Restorative Yoga, and Iyengar Yoga — use of props was pioneered by Iyengar),- my 7 Chakras and my elemental makeup (Vata-Pitta-Kapha)- Breathing exercises (Pranayamas), which are just as important as the poses (Asanas), if not MORE IMPORTANT!- Props needed- Poses (Asanas) — a lengthy selection of them! More than enough for a few years of practice, for a newbie like me!- then a wide range of Sequences, for specific problems eg Lower back pain, Insomnia, Digestive Issues, Pregnancy, Menopause, Depression, Stress release, etc etc.- and finally concluding with Where To Go From HereHaving gone through the whole book briefly now, it is definitely worth the book price. I shall be referring to this reference-guide-cum-beginner’s-guide, for the many months ahead. God bless.

Love this book, the poses, sequences and the intro on restorative yoga. The section with sequences for specific pains and aches is especially handy. Truly amazing book, not to mention that restorative yoga is such a gentle way to stretch your body, I love using the props. Highly recommend this book!
