Wonderful yoga instruction manual/health book for beginners and beyond…
I have owned this book for just over a year and have found it very useful and encouraging. I enjoyed reading the information Susan shared about her personal yoga/health journey. Sharing these details helps to create a connection with her readers from the beginning of the book. Susan has incredible credential for writing a book of this nature. She is not only an experienced yoga instructor, but she is a medical professional, as well. I felt very confident that the pose instructions and health suggestions were from a safe source. I love the photos of the poses on the beach. Not only are they lovely, but these visuals are very helpful in achieving correct form. I was looking for a resource like this from a Christian perspective, and I was delighted to find this book. I have enjoyed using Yoga for Beginners for my personal yoga practice, and I am now finding it to be a wonderful resource for my yoga certification training. I know I will be returning to this book often for my own use and for teaching future classes.

More than a Yoga book.
I don’t do yoga as a regular practice. I have yoga DVDs I rarely play. This book is so easy to open whenever I want to do a light stretch or can’t access a DVD player. My favorite parts of this book might be the chapter that describes Susan’s low-carbohydrate, low-glycemic, anti-inflammatory diet because of very practical tips I can utilize easily, as well as the chapter on how she lost her health 5 years ago and the steps she took to regain it. Yoga for Beginners is more than just a yoga book. I love Susan for offering these personal stories and helpful information that doctors rarely offer. She’s changing my life for the good! I highly recommend this book. It’s a good practice to be a beginner or have a beginner’s mind.

Truly a beginner book and I need it!
Susan takes you to the beginner status, and I appreciate that! As a new person to yoga, I appreciate the simplicity in which she teaches. I had tried other beginner yoga books, but they failed to deliver by expecting too much from a real beginner. I also love the spiritual twist she infuses by encouraging me to meditate on scripture.

Four Stars
Only complaint is- I wish it was spiral bound.

Too basic.
Too basic. Sorry I didnât listen to the other reviews that said the same.If you have ever done yoga…one class…this book is too basic. She is in a sitting position for raising arms, lowering arms, up down forward backwards. How many poses are there sitting cross legged moving arms. …ridiculous!I wasted my money.

Three Stars
Very basic, would be okay for someone who has never done yoga at all.

This is my second book by this author. She is so easy and enjoyable to read and follow. I’ve been not keeping up with yoga for a while and this is a great refresher and reference. This book makes a great gift. I hope it will be in print soon.
