    Great book
It seems very basic when you read it, but it’s effective! Especially if your child loves dragons. My 5-year-old child was having anger problems at home and school and we bought this as a tool to help learn to handle those big feelings. We’ve definitely noticed a difference. We had her bring it to school to read as well as a reminder when she was having those big feelings… the teacher loved it so much she bought some of these books for her classroom!

My 4 year old picked up on this real quick, great book!
I have a short temper, which in returns means my mini me has a short temper. I bought this book after reading the reviews and wondered if we could pick up any of the solutions. After one time reading it, we all walk round telling each other to count to ten and not to burn things to the ground. 🙂 Even though counting to 10 doesn’t always work, I give this book 5 stars for my 4yr old to be able to remember the sentiments with us not having to repeat them over and over again. Will be buying other books from this series since it was a good learning tool.

    Received
Awesome little book when I finally received it! Beautifully illustrated, though the corners of the book were damaged.

    Perfect for anger issues
I really liked this book… it speaks to the lovely age appropriate anger issues of 3,4 and 5 year olds. It is completely relatable and easy to read. If it were hard covered I would have given it 5 stars.

    Omg, so helpful!!!
I bought this book and two others (“consequences” and “respect”) and my 5yo loves them! It helped me introduce ways to talk about empathy and feeling our emotions. I feel like it was just what we needed to plant a seed. The illustrations are so helpful and have made space to talk about what is going on in the story and recalling our own experiences. This and the other books arrived so fast and we have read them about 5 times each already this evening. I will definitely be buying more books from this series!!!

    Helped My Toddler
Bought this for my tantrum throwing almost 3 year old. He LOVES this book & wants to read it multiple times. The situations are relatable: Having to remain calm and patient while waiting your turn, being told no, Not being able to go somewhere you want (outside), meeting a bully, or having to share. While reading the story I enjoyed asking my son if he’s ever had to do these things and if he reacted the same way as Diggory the dragon (or had someone act like Diggory towards him). I often repeat “you can’t hurt things just because you’re angry” and Diggory burning & my toddler hitting definitely relate. The other characters have great emotions on their faces in reaction to the dragons behavior too. My toddler might not be able to calm himself by thinking happy thoughts or counting to 10 but when he was upset about leaving the store and I mentioned controlling his anger his response was “Like the dragon?”. This has happened in numerous situations. So thank you.Edit to add that the typo posted by another reviewer was corrected in the hardback version of mine.

Helps children that struggle with anger.
My 8 year old son has been struggling with anger for a while now. I tried everything. A friend recommended this book. I bought it also bought a little red dragon to go with it. I act out how the dragon acts in the book. This book has really helped him and I plan on buying more of the collection.

Big help for 5 year old having issues in school!
My 5 year old son had been having a hard time in class due to a move into a new house. He was acting out towards his teachers and classmates by yelling, using mean words, hitting, and not listening. We found a couple of the Dragon Series books to read together, hoping to find a way to explain these feelings and handle them in a way he would understand. We loved them! We bought the “Teach Your Dragon To Understand Consequences” and “Train Your Angry Dragon” books and read them multiple times in the first sitting. They started a wonderful and productive dialogue between us and our son. His teacher had us bring them in and she read them to the whole class; all of the kids loved them and are asking for more! The best social-emotional children’s books I’ve been able to find, and a fun read! Will definitely be buying more!

Explains real and difficult subjects in a way kids can understand and connect with- it’s the imaginary dragon who struggles with these things, which is a nice way of addressing these topics. The books teach REAL coping mechanisms, which build emotional intelligence.I’m a big fan of the Whole Brain Child, and I think the dragon books are a great addition to whole brain parenting. My kids are 4 and 6 and really enjoy them, and seem to benefit on an emotional level.

This book is amazing. Expertly written and very easy for my 6 year old child to follow, understand and enjoy. It has helped to reduce her angry outbursts and has taught her to count to ten to help her calm down. Furthermore, I really enjoy reading it to her as it is a great story that flows well. I would highly recommend this book.
