Deepen and enliven your yoga practice with 30 themes based on Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras that can inspire on and off the mat.
Yoga draws many practitioners because of its physical benefits, but it is often the experience of peace that people return for. Threads of Yoga supports those seeking to learn more about yoga’s deeper spiritual teachings. Each short chapter introduces a foundational yogic theme, such as letting go, the breath, the yamas and the niyamas, and the chakra system. Each theme is accompanied by practices, including meditation, complementary poses, breath work, or quotes to contemplate. It is an ideal guide for both practitioners and teachers who want to connect with the spiritual wisdom of yoga, deepen their personal practice, or develop and support a theme for yoga class.

THE yoga book I’ve been seeking
I have been studying and practicing yoga for about 8 years. At first it was just yoga classes, but I’ve been more and more interested in the “rest” of yoga that exists beyond the postures of a yoga class. Most books on yoga are very difficult reads. This is the first I have read where all of the information is succinct, useful and miraculously comprehensive at the same time!I appreciate not only the references to original, source materials like the Sutras, but to other sources, philosophies and experiences to help us non-yogis relate to the content. Each chapter covers a key element of yoga the lifestyle (not yoga the workout). It’s very digestible and each chapter ends with several ways to bring that element into your daily habits. Love love love, I’m so glad this book exists. I was worried I would have to learn sanskrit to access the knowledge I was seeking. Luckily we have Pamela Seelig to guide us.

LOVE this book
I was really surprised how much I have enjoyed this book. I truly love the savasana section in every chapter, as well as the Meta Meditation. I have this book completely highlighted and tabs everywhere. It’s been a huge game changer for my classes, the information I give to my students and how I can incorporate this not only in my yoga classes but my other classes with different formats. I think you’ll enjoy this book more than you think, I certainly did.

Liked this book
I do yoga and I am a Buddhist. I want to get into the philosphy of Yoga. I really liked this book. It explained everything in such simple language. I keep it by my bed so I can practise some of the breathing techniques.

Great guide for yoga students
I found this book to be an enjoyable read and full of interesting and meaningful yoga information. I don’t do a lot of yoga, but the yoga wisdom included is fascinating and inspiring. I think Threads of Yoga is for anyone who wants to learn more about why we do yoga and meditation and then how we can practice. Highly recommend!
