great book and not only for seniors
I originally got this book for my parents as something we could share because we all spend a lot of time seated and what not. but what I found, was an entirely different discovery because in helping them with these exercises, I found them useful for myself as well. I especially like how simple to do these exercises are because even though I have an athletic background, my parents do not and they found them easy to apply so now, we all keep each other in check with our daily exercises. it only takes a few minutes a day but for us so far, we have noticed major improvements. great book.

Good chair yoga book for yogi with some Experience
The author was attentive to the pose directions and explains the holistic benefits of yoga. I had a little trouble with some of the written instructions, i.e. “Place your left hand on the seat for stability” but WHERE on the seat? There’s a corresponding pic of the seated side stretch but it looks like her hands are holding onto the bottom (seat) front sides of the seat. Her legs are in the way so I cannot quite see her hand placements. Another example is the seated neck roll which says to “let your hands rest gently on your lap” but the pic shows her hands under her thighs. These discrepancies might confuse an absolute beginner, but this would be a good book for someone who already understands the correct postures and modifications best suited for the reader.

A great comprehensive book!
This book covers not only chair yoga, but also the connection between yoga and the connection to mental health and physical health such as anxiety, emotions, sleep, arthritis, chronic pain, balance, and more…. There’s even basic information on nutrition. It’s an easy read and one where you could read chapters out of sequence and still get the information you need. A great book indeed!

A practical guide to teach chair yoga to older adults with limited mobility, the book offers clear, step-by-step routines that are easy to follow so you can incorporate gentle exercise into your daily life. It also relates the routines to some common mobility issues, like standing up from a seated position or reaching for something from a high shelf. The explanations are straightforward, making it a useful resource for both beginners and those more experienced with yoga. There are some additional tips about mindfulness and healthful eating not usually provided in a yoga manual, so this information is a bonus for readers. Itâs especially helpful because the book lists specific foods and combinations that could be most healthful. My only suggestion is that the images included are not well-suited to the senior demographic, especially the manner of dress. Despite this drawback, the book’s structured approach and easy-to-understand instructions offer valuable benefits for seniors.
