From Chaos and Stress to Calmness and Happiness: Discover the Power of Mindfulness and Create a Homeschooling Haven for Your Children.
In the past few years, homeschooling has become the fastest growing form of education in the United States.
According to NHERI (National Home Education Research Institute), the homeschool population is growing every year, and there are now over 2.5 million homeschooled students in the U.S. alone.
There’s no doubt about it: homeschooling has left the alternative scene, and has become mainstream.
World events have contributed to this trend, but the truth is, more and more parents opt for this type of education because of its many benefits.
Homeschool students score above average on academic achievement tests, as well as on measures of social, emotional, and psychological development.
Yes, the rewards of homeschooling are plentiful.

Relevant Book for Our Trying Times
For someone practicing mindfulness, yoga, and mediation for many years, I found the timing of this book very apt for the uncertain times we live in, particularly to boost kids immunity and positive energies during the pandemic. Not only is this a creative way to get kids started on yoga and mindfulness while they are young and largely home during the pandemic, it is also a lovely way to get the kids to exercise, strengthen their bodies and minds, and make their bodies flexible. The lessons in the book are pragmatic …. I tried some of the lessons and poses in the book with kids, and I could see the restless kids get a little more attentive. Of particular mention, are the lessons in sitting still, deep breathing, making your own dream, and mindfulness activities. The varied poses for the peeps are easy to adopt and bring in variety into the yoga postures. Extraordinary times calls for extraordinary ingenuity, and this book is a perfect way to introduce yoga and mindfulness in the hearts, minds and bodies of young minds to augment their physical and mental health, keep the kids invigorated, and positively energized. Highly recommend young parents get a copy of the book and bring yoga and mindfulness into their young kids loves. Plant a seed early for it blossom all their lives.

Inspiring, Creative, Well-Organised Book
In these strange times we are living in, children may find it hard to experience joy in the present moment. This book of Meditation, Mindfulness and Yoga is a practical guide to helping your children stay serene and focused in the now. Children will learn to be calm and fully present, able to recognize and experience thoughts and emotions without feeling overwhelmed by stress and anxiety. The author has organised the material into one section of the book for each practice, (Meditation, Mindfulness and Yoga,) and has developed practical exercises to which children will relate. I love the way in which the author developed connections between the three practices and linked mind and body, guiding the reader. I thought the section on meditation was particularly strong, suggesting ways to adapt practice for different personalities, and sometimes using favorite animals or superheroes as a model for the exercises. The section on helping children recognise their own emotions was highly creative. Many of the ideas in this book can be used as a springboard to more traditional teaching in curriculum areas. For instance, a “noticing” walk among nature to encourage mindfulness could evolve into a science or geography lesson. All in all, a book ahead of its time, and very useful.

Valuable book for the current moment
Mindfulness and Yoga Lessons for Homeschooled Kids is a resource full of bite-sized experiments for encouraging awareness in the many millions of kids that may be learning from home during the pandemic. Thereâs enough variety to address the different needs and personalities of a variety of ages and interests. Wisely, the author encourages a gentle approach to these lessons, warning parents not to force these on kids but rather to make mindfulness practice fun and engaging. The book makes an important point that parents must model mindfulness behaviors for the effect of the techniques included here to have maximum impact. The last quarter of the book introduces some basic yoga poses with instructions and a few photos. A companion video would be useful for parents who are not familiar enough with yoga to effectively work through them with beginners.Overall, this is a valuable resource that has become available at just the right time.

Student Learning Support and Long-Term Positive Outcomes
Mindfulness and Yoga Lessons for Home-Schooled Kids is much more than the physical exercises referenced in the book. It provides reflection on the current state of the world as children prepare to learn post-pandemic. Consideration is given to anxiety and uncertainty that students may face as they attempt to adapt to new norms of learning in their everyday lives. Mindfulness and Yoga Lessons for Home-Schooled Kids is tailored for children in a manner that is unlike that of adult Yoga lessons. This comprehensive collection of strategies, exercises, and techniques support the attainment of inner-peace with fun-filled, highly imaginative activities while including practices that support mental and physical health through meditation. In truth, I have never quite considered the overall benefit of meditation since its origin is founded on beliefs unlike my own. However, the practices of slowing down, sitting still, learning self-restraint, and discipline resonate with me, especially as it relates to achieving calmness and reducing anxiety. I especially liked the incorporation of the metaphorical journey, as with traveling through time and space to imagined scenarios, to motivate student participation among small children. I can only surmise that if students make a conscious effort to incorporate these exercises, learning will be stimulated. The illustrations enhance the exercises quite nicely as well. Moreover, the triple benefit may have long-term positive outcomes that could ultimately strengthen the mind, body, and soul!

I was able to put into practice the advice given by the author very quickly with my little girl. And it works! Especially the exercises based on the 5 senses. The Yoga exercises at the end of the book seem to be better adapted to teenagers or adults, but with a little imagination Animal Yoga works well.
