·Core and leg strength for stability and healthy aging, needed for autonomous living and enjoyable movement
·A practical approach to flexibility
·Balance and how it translates to staying safer during activity and avoiding falls
·Ways to incorporate yoga in daily routines to receive benefits with minimal time commitment
·Meditation, mindfulness, breathing practices, and the physical practice of yoga can help with both mental flexibility and relaxation

Great Gift for Yourself and Those You Love!
I’ve been Alexandra’s student for almost a decade, so I knew this book would be a trusted resource from the start! What I didn’t expect was how awesome a birthday gift it makes for so many of my friends! Just celebrated a 60th with someone who opened it and said, “Oh, this is exactly what I need in my life right now,” but also got very positive feedback from a friend who is still in her mid-forties and a certified yoga instructor!I particularly love the section where Sage and Alexandra offer suggestions for different scenarios in our lives; i.e., facing a stressful day, ending a long day, etc. I do a lot of driving to see parents who are 13 hours away, and Lifelong Yoga is THE go-to tool to pull out at the end of those drives. Thanks to both authors for their own collaboration (hope it’s lifelong!) and for sharing their collective wisdom with all of us!

    Must have!
I took my first yoga class over 7 years ago with Alexandra. As I continue to pursue my yoga practice in the various cities I have lived in since, I have always appreciated the foundation I was taught from Alexandra. Now I have it all in front of me in this book. I love the books ability to reach to all levels, age and stages of life and the body. I see myself referencing this book as my body and mind continue to change over the years. It’s a quick yet extensive reminder of how to strengthen and calm the mind and body.

    Another Winner From Sage!
Thank you Sage for another great book! I have been teaching a men’s class with ages ranging from fifty-six to eighty-five for over ten years. “Lifelong Yoga” has reinvigorated the class with everyone remarking on how they love what you have brought to us. So far, five men have ordered your book to begin a home practice. What more needs be said! You rock!

This is a wonderful combination of good commensense yoga info for middle-age and older and a fantastic photo-accompanied explanation of many poses. Really cool how they’ve categorized suggested poses for different times or events: “at the end of an emotional day,” “before a workout,” etc. Easy to read and follow!

A sensible guide for yoga to improve strength and flexibility in your body without intimidating poses or esoteric systems. The perspective on maintaining health and wellness is refreshing and shows that yoga has an equal place in lifetime fitness as any other fitness activity. A+!

This book is a must have if you are 50+ yrs young!
The way she languages the postures and flows in this book made it easy for me to learn and keep practicing. Money well spent

I have almost all of Sage’s books and this one did not disappoint either!

  8. Mike’s Thoughts

Down to earth, practical and easy to follow.
I’m a 56 year old guy and have read several books on yoga trying to find the right one for me. I discovered this book at my library and every aspect of it thoroughly impressed me….particularly the instructional photos and accompanying text…..so I bought it on Prime. I highly recommend this book!!

The photos are such poor quality in this book, it’s not possible to see the feet/legs in some, making them pointless.

Lifelong Yoga is a wonderful book for seniors and their carers. It introduces yoga gradually and in each exetcise always suggests options for those who are limited in a variety of ways. The core philosophy is very positive – we should work with our bodies, notice weaknesses and strengths and gradually achieve our goals. This philosophy is supported by the lovely sketches of actual senior patients of the authors. Instead of seeing some incredibly lithe twenty year old attaining incredible postures, you see elderly people working with their older bodies.
