A detailed guide to the breath-focused meditation practice of Kriya yoga for spiritual growth, inner stillness, and self-realization

• Explains the basic techniques of the practice, detailing proper posture, breathwork exercises (pranayama), bandhas, third-eye gazing, and the use of mantra

• Presents advanced, yet simple, techniques that accelerate a contemplative practice by micro-modulations related to posture, respiration, visualization, and sound

• Includes wisdom from the author’s teacher Ganesh Baba on the importance of the spine in Kriya yoga and the Cycle of Synthesis, a model of the human experience

Kriya yoga is an ancient meditation technique that focuses on breathing and the spine to unlock deep states of awareness, self-realization, and spiritual growth. Kriya can provide a fast path to awakening, yet its practice has been shrouded in secrecy, passed only from master to initiate for millennia.

Introduced into Kriya 40 years ago, Keith Lowenstein, M.D., offers an accessible yet detailed guide to Kriya yoga. He explains the basic techniques of the practice step by step, detailing proper posture, breathwork exercises (pranayama), visualization practices, and mantra. He reveals how Kriya is a scientific art–if practiced consistently, it will allow you to quickly enter deep states of meditation and ultimately experience inner stillness. He also explores how the practice of Kriya leads to healing and the development of compassion and the freeing joy of the union of Nature and Spirit.

Sharing the wisdom of his Kriya yoga teacher Ganesh Baba, the author adds a detailed understanding of anatomy, especially the importance of the spine in Kriya yoga and energy flow. The author explores Ganesh Baba’s teachings on spirit-infused science and the integration of Vedic philosophy, quantum mechanics, prana, and spiritualization illustrated in the Cycle of Synthesis. He also discusses the relationship between the exercises of Kriya yoga and Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras as well as teachings from his other teachers, including Paramahansa Hariharananda.

With this guide, you will gain an understanding not only of the practice of Kriya yoga but also of the spiritual wealth it brings, including the ultimate self-realization of non-dual reality.

    Thank you
I deeply appreciate Keith’s love and dedication to write this book because it will help to answer questions and it will provide you with a powerful Kriya practice so you can know yourself. Also, if you practice regularly you will have less stress, you will be healthier and happier! The book is divided into four parts:Part 1: The Spiritual and Scientific Lineage of KriyaPart 2: Practicing Kriya YogaPart 3: The Scientific Effects of Kriya YogaPart 4: The Spiritual Effects of Kriya YogaQuote, page 17-18″This book has been written to express deep heartfelt gratitude for the tradition of passing on teachings from generation to generation but also helps to provide, as much as possible, a clear and concise guide to these techniques… Grace alone is in charge from this point forward. May these writings find those who may be looking for them. We believe that ultimately the teacher is within but as the journey proceeds there are fellow travelers who will appear to provide assistance along the way.”If you are genuinely seeking, please consider this book. And please, practice, practice, practice! ^_^Namaste,

This practice has changed my life
I’ve practiced meditation for years but had stalled/plateu’d. My discursive mind had become more and more distracting. The Kriya yoga techniques presented in this book have helped me quiet my discursive thoughts and go as deep in 10 minutes as I have in week-long retreats. If you’re telling yourself “I can’t meditate,” get this book. Use the simple techniques Keith describes. You’ll discover you *can* meditate. And your life will be the better for it.

    Amazing material on Kriya Yoga
Dr. Lowenstein has done a phenomenal job explaining Kriya Yoga concepts in so scientific and easy to understand manner. I strongly recommend this book to anyone seeking to embark on the journey of Kriya Yoga Meditation.

an excellent book on the foundations of kriya yoga
Fascinating read. It goes in depth into both Ganesh Baba and his simplified and accelerated version of Kriya yoga. Dr. Lowenstein cares very much about the lineage and explains each stage of the technique in clear detail. While no advanced and secretive techniques are taught in the book, the simple four stage process gives the meditator plenty to work with and profound experiences can be experienced. 10/10 will recommend!

    All sizzle no steak
We all have to accept that a book is never really gonna teach us kryia yoga. If we really wanna learn kryia yoga we should stop looking for a book and wasting money. Just join SRF or one of the others.

Dr. Lowenstein has a poor and selective memory
Dr. Lowenstein appears to somehow forget that I was the person who introduced him to Ganesh Baba, and called him to invite him to come stay with Dan and I. Keith lived in the living room of the house. The four of us lived together for months, the three guys taking care of Baba, making his tea and making food for the constant visitors who came to hang with him. I worked in a restaurant, Keith did not work. The plan was that the three of us (Keith, Baba, and myself) would all move to Santa Fe, NM, where Keith and I would study to become Naturopaths. I went in advance of the two of them. Sometime after I arrived I was told the plan had changed and they were not coming. Keith’s family had money and put him up in an apartment in midtown Manhattan where he could attend Columbia’s post-baccalaureate premed program without having to work. Baba stayed with him because he had a roof over his head and could hold court in their apartment. That’s the actually story, for what it’s worth. If we are talking about spirituality then we ought to be honest. What good is all that meditating if one becomes dishonest and dishonorable in the process. For shame, Dr. Lowenstein.R. A. Schulman MD
