  1. Laura Mangum Broome

    A great resource for beginners!
After being sedentary from health issues, I’ve been trying to find gentle exercises that enable me to set a routine. Being in my early 60s, I know how beneficial yoga can be but I’m so inflexible. Getting up and down from the floor is very challenging. I was so happy to find this book! The chair exercises are easy to follow and are categorized as beginner, intermediate, and advanced. There’s even a chapter for cardio chair exercises. If you are a senior looking for gentle yoga that also adjusts for health challenges then this book is for you. I highly recommend it!

  2. Galdermoth

    Good book! Nice pictures!
I really like the cover of this book; that is what pulled me in. Once I started reading, I was prompted to do the exercises while sitting on my chair. I never thought I could get so much exercise while sitting. The pictures make the moves easy to execute and are a valuable book for anyone who wants to exercise more while sitting.

    Great Resource for Beginners
I found the exercises and accompanying descriptions to be very easy to understand and engage. I appreciate the guidance on safety tips as well, as that is also a way to ensure that I’m positioning myself properly. Interestingly, I’m not over 60, but I sit at my desk all day for work and thought these exercises would be helpful. They are.

    Well Thought Out. Highly Recommended!
Sylvia Silverstep’s “Chair Yoga for Seniors Over 60” is highly recommended for its cautious enthusiasm in the exercises. One of the best lessons from this useful book is “always move within your comfort zone; avoid any movements that cause pain.” The author is mindful to continuously remind readers of the importance of safety.I particularly liked the following two sections “The Power of Breath,” reminding readers that breath awareness is a foundational aspect of mindfulness and “Body Scan Meditation” involving a systemic journey through different parts of the body.I highly recommend this book not only to seniors over 60 but to therapists as well. I give it 5 stars.

  8. SKB

    already incorporating
I enjoyed learning how I can still exercise while I’m working at my desk. I incorporated quite a few of these throughout my day and already feel a difference in how I feel. I recommend this book. Easy and demonstrated moves!
