    What a delightfully comprehensive book detailing Chair Yoga practices for seniors. This book is well organized. It begins with myths surrounding yoga and clears up the misinformation: it’s more than stretches, you don’t need a special chair, can be done by anyone and at any level from beginning to advanced. It covers wellness benefits to adopting a chair yoga routine: increased flexibility, muscle tone and strength, lower stress and blood pressure, improve cardiovascular health and enhance mental health, can help weight management, increase energy, help get better sleep, and help balance metabolism. I’m all about this!I like the introduction of creating your chair yoga space within your home. It does not require the purchase of special equipment or a full workout room. Yoga safety is covered in detail. It is a nice surprise to find ‘breathing’ instruction included in the book. Some may not realize that breathing is an integral part of yoga.The book is easy to understand and well-ordered and organized. It begins with warmups, stretching and cool down. This book includes black and white sketch illustrations showing poses and movement. I like the simplicity of the pictures as they are clear and match the written instructions. There is a meditation section and instruction as well. Like I said, thorough.The flow of instruction goes into types of chair yoga practices for specific health and wellness targets you may desire, like: weight management, low impact, flexibility, mobility, balance, and improving strength. There are instructions go from gentle, to intermediate to advanced for each. Variations are also offered in some of the poses. There are sitting poses, standing poses and even examples of using weights and bands. There is a chapter dedicated to surgical recovery assist, addressing arthritis, osteoporosis bone health, and back pain relief.Nutrition, hydration and sleep are emphasized as well. Mindfulness, relaxation, journaling, music therapy information is described and can be beneficial. The author covers setting goals, establishing routines, tracking your progress and celebrating milestones as you embrace this journey.This book comes in large print for paperback and hard cover. It is very well laid out and complete. I would like to have seen a section with defined routine of images, referencing back to the chapter details. For example: List the poses for say a 30-day challenge for increased flexibility or 10 minutes a day/5 day a week balance routine or an upper body strength plan. Some suggestions on how to successfully track progress and doing journal entries would be helpful. Overall, a fantastic book for seniors wanting to learn about and incorporate chair yoga into their lives.

    I’m in my early 50s and suffer from vertigo. Some yoga poses I can’t do without getting dizzy. I love that I can do these poses using a chair instead. This book also includes healthy eating, breathing exercises, relaxation techniques and even journaling. Great book!
