Increase your flexibility in less than ten minutes a day
This is my first introduction to chair yoga. It is aimed at seniors with limited mobility or joint pain. While Iâm not a senior, I tried a few poses, and I am impressed as it has increased my flexibility. There are 64 poses that you can pick and try, and the stretches take less than 10 minutes. A couple of poses require some practice and two chairs, such as the Seated Forward Bend and the Childâs Pose. The book is structured well, starting with what chair yoga is, its benefits, and how.Starting with breathing techniques and adopting the accurate seating position, the book moves to more specific ones, such as toning your body, yoga for the neck, shoulder, and arms, lower back, hip health, enhancing sleep, and much more.A bonus audiobook is offered with the food when you scan the code. I havenât accessed the audiobook and videos, but the book’s illustrations for each pose and the clear instructions make it easy.My opinions are my own.

Practical Chair Yoga Guide for Limited Mobility
An evidence-based, realistic approach to yoga for those with mobility challenges or who spend long hours sitting. The book provides 60+ clearly illustrated poses with detailed alignment instructions to prevent injury. What sets this apart is the focus on 10-minute routines that can be easily incorporated into daily life, plus specific guidance on breathing techniques for relaxation. The inclusion of audio guidance via QR codes makes following along much simpler. Most valuable are the adaptations for various physical limitations and the emphasis on gradual progression. It is particularly helpful for seniors or anyone needing low-impact exercise options.

Great Chair Yoga Book
The best thing about David OâConnorâs book, Chair Yoga for Seniorâs 50, 60 and Beyond is the great lengths Mr. OâConnor goes to, to show how to perform the various poses. There is the written description, diagrams (although an area that needs some improvement), and accessible QR codes for voice renderings. I found it easy to grasp the various poses through one of the three methods or a combination of the three. An important part of yoga practice is breathing, which becomes a point of emphasis throughout the book. In Sanskrit, the word is Pranayama, or more easily stated, gaining control over oneâs breath. Mr. OâConnor sums it up best: âmindfulness of breathing or the âflow of in-breath and out-breathâ is an intrinsic part of yoga practice.âThe second half of the book features beginnerâs poses. Since Iâm a ânewbieâ I found these most helpful. Besides seated chair poses, there are also some standing poses as well. The book also numbers them, and there are over 60 poses in total. There are additional advanced poses at the end of the book (Chapter 13) for those that want to take on more complicated stretches. They compose poses 56-64.All-in-all, this is a very informative and well-written book. The hard part is learning the breathing technique. The poses (at least the beginners) were straightforward and easy to perform with a little practice. Itâs matching up the breathing that is the challenge. But if it were easy to do, it wouldnât be worth the doing.

Very instructive, easy to follow
I loved this book. As one who has been dreading doing any kind of exercise other than walking, this book was a wakeup call. Not only because it is good to actually do yoga, but this book speaks to both body and mind, and helps center you and listen to your true unstressed self. I loved the option of audio clips and that I could see the exercises on video as well. Easy enough for anyone, experienced in yoga or not. There are so many exercises to choose from that you can pick your favorites and skip the hardest ones and still get a good session in. I totally recommend this book.

I enjoyed reading and trying out the chair yoga poses in the book. The free audio QR codes of all the chapters and poses works great. It is so easy to listen to a chapter or hear how to do a pose as I am doing it. There were so many poses and information on how to modify and work up to poses if needed. Also, this book covers tips for mind, body and spirit. Very good information on what we can do to feel better, happier, how to gain strength, stay active and keep balanced so we donât fall.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

It’s not having visual guidance, with the help of pictures. The number of exercises suggested is limited and the adaptation is not satisfactory.

The book is not only practical but I found it empowering. It encourages seniors to take control of their health and well-being by incorporating movement into their daily lives, promoting longevity and vitality. I even shared it with my 92 year old mother!
