    excellent resource
I found this an excellent brief read on yoga (and getting back to the practice) I’ll return to frequently for the poses and sequence. The reference section contains many resources for additional information but the book itself covers the basics with many points for application.

The perfect first (and maybe the only) yoga book you’ll need.
I was looking for a book that would present a simple, clear, and straightforward yoga routine that I could start to practice immediately, and that is precisely what the author presents. The explanations are crystal clear and easy to follow. No matter what your goals – meditation, spirituality, stress reduction, or just increased energy and physical flexibility (or all of them together) – this is the perfect book. In addition, the author provides valuable but succinct discussions of meditation in general and the history of yoga.To make the book affordable, the illustrations are in black and white, but you can email the author and request full color PDFs of the poses. I highly recommend doing this.

    Very detailed!
This book is awesome! It explains each pose and how to adjust for easier or more advanced poses. As a beginner, I appreciate the tips and detailed information.

Back to Yoga – Brief but Helpful
This book includes information on the benefits of yoga, suggested positions, suggested flow of a session, and historical information on yoga. I found the book to provide useful and educational information for those interested in improving health through the use of yoga. The suggested poses combine some well known simple moves with some more stretching poses. I liked the book.

So much good packed into an easy, quick read!
What I love about this book is the guilt-free guide to get back into moving my body, the simplicity in which the moves are broken down (with visuals!), AND how genuinely good I feel after just one week! There were days where I had 20 minutes and days where I had 50 minutes to squeeze in a workout, and on both days I felt refreshed. The quick reference guide was a huge help as I am a very visual person, and didn’t always have the book right there with me. I loved learning about the breath work and now incorporate it into my morning and nightly routines. The glossary was also helpful because let’s be honest, there are a lot of fancy yoga words I’ve heard and just didn’t know the meaning of. If you’re looking to get back to yoga, this book lives up to its name!!

    You can start again!
Excellent support and instruction for returning to yoga after having wandered away!

    Easy to follow!
After my favorite yoga center closed (thanks to the pandemic), I’ve been terrible about doing yoga on my own. I really miss it. Back To Yoga is perfect to get me back into doing yoga! It’s easy to follow and I love the descriptions and pictures. It’s a great book for people new to yoga and also for people like me who have done yoga for years, have “taken a break” from yoga recently and want to get back into it. This will be my guide for home yoga and I can take it with me when I travel. I’m looking forward to lots of sessions!

A great way to understand and incorporate yoga’s benefits
Yoga is an idea I have always toyed with. I have known of it and known people who practiced it and benefited from it, but I never quite figured out how to incorporate it productively into my life. Steve Kelley’s Back to Yoga is an approachable explanation of the practical benefits of yoga. It offered me some simple ways to start to understand yoga and begin a routine that is helping me reduce stress and increase my balance, discipline and overall health. I appreciate Steve’s effort and encourage anyone toying with Yoga to read it. You won’t regret it.

This book speaks to me as I have done some form of yoga on and off since 1970 and have been thinking of getting “back to yoga”. The descriptions and diagrams are clear, and the writing highly supportive and motivational.Although I don’t have the stressed lifestyle the author mentions, I don’t want to seek out a yoga teacher, wear special clothes, or be limited by the timing or location of a class. The approach this book takes lets me tailor my own practice using suggested positions and routines that can be easily progressed using the outlines in the diagrams, which can also be downloaded. It fills the niche for me.I found it helpful to have someone read the text to me the first time I attempted a pose or sequence, as I found it difficult to keep referring to the book, but once I had done the pose, the diagrams were enough to do it the next time. The short section on the history of yoga was interesting to me. Overall I recommend this book especially to people with some background in yoga.

I am only a beginner and this book helped me to understand the different poses, it is really easy to follow!I don’t have time to go to the gym, I am very happy I can do this excercise at home.I really enjoyed reading it. It also helped me with my back pain, such a relief! I can recommend this book to everyone! The breathing techniques helped me a lot, very useful! I used to do spinning but now I fell in love with yoga, thanks to this great book!
