    Best mat I’ve ever owned
I purposefully waited a few months to post a review because I wanted to make sure I still liked this mat after numerous uses. I do. I’m very happy with my purchase. For reference, I normally take intermediate classes several days a week. I also have lower back problems that have required surgery in the past. The reason I got a cork/rubber mat was because I liked that it was made of renewable materials – but it turns out that it has been great for my back. The mat is thick, springy, and very supportive. The cork is great for warmer classes when your hands get sweaty. With my old mat, I had to put a towel down sometimes to get a better grip with sweaty palms. I don’t have to do that anymore with the cork top. I feel a lot more confident in my practice with the better support and gripping under me.It is a little heavier to carry than a traditional mat that’s made of PVC. But I have no problems rolling or maneuvering it. I don’t think I’ll ever go back to the other style of mat.

    Cork Mat 🙂 !
This natural cork/rubber yoga mat is awesome! There is no slipping. I have used it for a variety of hot classes – such as flow and cardio/power classes. There is no smell to it. It is nice to use an all-natural product. It is rather heavy, but well worth it to have a comfortable mat during my practice.I appreciate this family run business. Just over a year ago, I ordered the Aurorae Synergy 2 in 1 mat a just over a year ago. The more I used it the more slippery it became. In writing to the company, I was told to order another mat and I would be refunded for the Synergy 2 in 1. Those in the company suggested I try the cork mat. Once I received the cork mat, I was refunded for the price of the first mat. Thank you for sticking with your 2 year satisfaction guarantee! Namaste!

Better than 4 stars, but not quite 5. A very good mat for any style of yoga practice.
I received my PRO cork mat two months ago as a birthday present, after having worn out four other Aurorae mats in the course of three years. My mats see regular, hot practice, averaging four studio 85-95° Power Yoga and Vinyasa classes per week. In the two months of use, there is slight discoloration at downward-facing dog contact points, but only noticeable in the right combination of light and viewing angle.First and foremost, this is a springy mat. Between the cork and the rubber backing, the mat offers a nice amount of cushion. I’ve not felt a need to use additional props to protect knees in asana like crescent moon or camel, and the mat has lessened impact from falling out of inversions or arm balances.I’ve found it to offer less grip than the Synergy mat, but this is balanced by not having to manage a full-length towel shifting on a traditional mat. Having said that, I find myself wiping where I put my hands in downward-facing dog, as there is a slow hand slide from sweat. This mat is a beast, mine weighed in at over seven pounds on bathroom and kitchen scales. It is also slightly longer and wider than most other mats, nice features for a taller yogi. It’s ready for use upon arrival, with no chemical smell or additional prep needed.Maintenance is relatively straight forward, with the cork requiring little more than sponging with mat cleaner. What keeps me from giving the mat a full five stars? – The mat is heavy, at seven pounds, it is easily double or treble the weight of “normal” mats. – It’s not a mat that you can treat casually; it requires some care to prevent damage to the cork. – The rubber backing is a magnet for dust, lint and hair, requiring a wipe down while rolling. A good shake will throw most dirt from the cork, but the second wipe down is an additional step. – Air escaping from points where bare, sweaty skin is in contact with the mat (such as the transitions from side to side rocking of happy baby, or rolling spine to mat when coming out of bridge or shoulder stand) will create sounds similar to flatulence. They may not stink, but mat farts sound no different than the real thing. In conclusion, think of this mat as a performance car. It has the price tag, many of the performance features and idiosyncrasies, as well as the additional care that a performance vehicle will have. There are other mats, such as Aurorae’s Synergy, that offer most of the same features at a lower price point.

poor quality and smells like a car’s tire
poor quality, moves and folds. I have to straighten it every few minutes. Wish I could return it. Unfortunately amazon has been acting poorly during this time. I have received broken jars, damaged items and there is no one to answer the phone even.

    Comfortable & Not-cold
One of my favorite things about this yoga mat is that the surface it doesn’t get cold like the rubber or plastic ones do–I didn’t even know that was possible! The cork mat feels nice on my skin, and doesn’t catch hair, lint, or clothing like other yoga materials do. The thickness is good for me, but if you have really sensitive bones you might need a bit more cushion–even if so, I’d still recommend this mat with a folded blanket under your knees or elbows. This is a small company, so I also felt good supporting them. After using this mat for a few months, I don’t think I’ll ever go back to the mats with a rubber or polyurethane surface–the cork is just such a nicer material to have against my skin and clothes.

  6. Pomponette

    very cushioned and comfortable mat
I don’t want to purchase plastic and synthetic mats anymore. I researched “green” mats and found this cork and rubber mat. It’s relatively heavy so less convenient for taking to a class. I use it at home. The cork is beautiful and the mat feels nice and cushioned. I hope the cork lasts and doesn’t get cracked. Too early to tell if stains from feet and dirt will be hard to remove. So far, I have had it a month. I really like the mat.I would buy again.
