    They’re just… socks?
I mean, they’re nice enough socks, don’t get me wrong. They’re just not any more supportive or padded than any other sock out there, and other than the option for grips and the “knock their socks off” on the inside of the band, they’re literally no different than any of my others. In fact, I have others that are MUCH more supportive. I took these to class and opted to use a different pair because these don’t offer any kind of foot or ankle support at all that I can feel. I got these specifically because I’ve got a mild foot injury that I’m coming back from. I’ve been dancing in Hokas with dance socks on the toes, but that’s not a great solution for all parts of class because the treads can catch unexpectedly and put pressure on OTHER joints. Anyway, I was looking to switch to socks, which is what I used before the injury (not a fan of traditional shoes – they tend to stay in the bag). I chose ankle compression socks over these and would generally recommend those (any well-fitted compression sock) over these for folks who have needs similar to mine. For folks who need the “brakes” but don’t need the additional foot support, these will be the better choice. I’m not finding anything in the way of toe or heel protection.A size chart would have been helpful because nobody has specified whether the sizing here is unisex or women’s sizes. I got the 6-10 and wear a 6.5. They weren’t baggy but there was definitely plenty of room to stretch, so I wonder if the smaller size might not have been the better choice. (I’m 6.5 women’s, 4.5ish in unisex or UK sizing.)Comparing apples to apples, my studio carries Apolla dance socks, and there’s no comparison. Not even close. In fairness, those cost somewhere in the neighborhood of twice as month, but they combine the support of the compression socks with the “brakes” specifically for dancers.I’ll keep these and wear them, but I’m not sure it’ll be to dance class. They do stay up nicely so they’re good for dress shoes at least.I went back and forth on 3 or 4 stars here, and in the absence of half stars, these are going to be closer to 4 – but not a full, enthusiastic 4. I feel like the Apolla socks are what these claim to be, and if these had just claimed to be for dancers with the grips (but also available without), I’d have said 4 with no problem. I’m just not sure the product lives up to the claims of support and protection, especially in a world where we have access to plain old compression socks that work better in that regard.

    No grip
I was looking for socks with some grip for my dancer. I was mislead by one review so here’s mine so you know there is no grip. Cute socks for sure but not what I needed for DMI.Returning

    Dance socks
I got the Vegan Dance Socks, Kya Socks, Acrylic, Toe and Heel Protection, Ribbed Leg – MD23 / MD24 in Black – No Grip, size 6-10. This is a S/M on the packaging, which explains the sizes slightly differently. Still, this is the same size I usually order from So Danca, and my street shoe size is a women’s 7.5. I already owned the Sand – With Grip.I love the So Danca dance socks. They fit my feet perfectly and stay in place, even after hours of dancing. They also hold up to regular washing. I do like that the black hides stains on the bottom better than the sand, since dance studios and stages don’t always have the cleanest floors.I do prefer the grip version. The grips aren’t all over like Pilates/yoga socks, but only at the heel and the base of the ball of the foot. They add just a bit of extra control when needed. Still, these socks aren’t too slippery to dance in even without the grips. These are well-made dance socks.

    Nice
My wife likes to wear these socks for dance as well as just walking around the house. They look and feel good, but they don’t seem any different from regular socks. She still wears them since they’re comfortable, but she was hoping they’d provide more support for the toes and heels. The socks are stretchy, and the cuffs stay put while you dance. You can roll the cuffs down for a different look. The brand name is hidden in the cuffs. They’re breathable and not grippy, which makes it easy to slide and pirouette in. The size is perfect, and the color is as in the pictures.
